207 SQUADRON ROYAL AIR FORCE HISTORY

F/Sgt John Shaw
St Chad's Church, Wilne, Derbyshire

A plaque on the chancel wall says:

'To the Glory of God and in memory of
JOHN SHAW RAF,
killed in action June 22nd 1944.
This Tablet was erected and the figures on
the Screen were given by his parents'.

F/Sgt John Shaw was Navigator in P/O 'Mike' Solly's crew (Lancaster EM-M LL973) which was shot down, probably by a Schräge Musik night fighter, inbound  to the synthetic oil plant at Wesseling from RAF Spilsby on the night of 21/22 June 1944.

John's sister Mrs Ruth Alderson faithfully kept his memory and was a Friend Member of the Association.

There is a Commemorative Tree memorial for the Solly crew.
