St Chad's Church A plaque on the chancel wall says: 'To the Glory
of God and in memory of JOHN SHAW RAF, killed in action
June 22nd 1944. F/Sgt John Shaw was Navigator in P/O 'Mike' Solly's crew (Lancaster EM-M LL973) which was shot down, probably by a Schräge Musik night fighter, inbound to the synthetic oil plant at Wesseling from RAF Spilsby on the night of 21/22 June 1944.
