Three Allied aircrews are commemorated on this memorial - French, American and British.  The memorial was dedicated in September 1994. 

The crew of 207 Squadron Lancaster LL968 EM-K, F/O Michael Lovett, failed to return to RAF Spilsby from a raid on Heilbronn on 4th December 1944. 

He and his crew are buried in Choloy War Cemetery, Meurthe et Moselle:

The other 207 Squadron crew lost that night was that of F/O George Wall. Lancaster PB765 EM-B was hit by flak.  F/O Wall and three of his crew were made POW. Their crew is commemorated in the village of Holtzwihr, also in Alsace.
