SQUADRON DISBANDMENT PARADE (TWO FLIGHT SQUADRON)

1. FORMING UP THE CEREMONIAL PARADE

Forming up the Parade will be conducted in SHQ Car Park by the Parade Marshal (SWO). Bayonets will be Fixed, rifles will be in the shoulder and all officers on Parade will Draw Swords, this will include the Receiving Standard Bearer. However, the Retiring Standard Bearer, carrying the Cased Standard, will have his sword sheathed; points of note - 207(R) Standard will be cased when marched into 1-Hangar and the Central Band of The Royal Air Force will be pre-positioned in 1-Hangar.

The Parade Marshal (SWO) will march the Parade, in column of route from SHQ Car Park to 1-Hangar via Beaver Block and Ground School. The two Standard Parties will be located between Nos 1 and 2 Flt and on arrival into the Hangar, bringing them to the Halt, the Parade Marshal will hand over the Parade to the Parade Cdr. The SWO will then march off. The Parade Commander now assumes command of the parade. Where upon he takes point in line, located between Nos 1 and 2 Flts. On the left turn and facing his Parade, the Parade Cdr gives the following commands:

PARADE….PARADE INTO LINE LEFT….LEFT TURN!

SHOULDER….ARMS!

DRESSINGS….PARADE RIGHT….DRESS!

EYES….FRONT!

MARKERS ARE TO TAKE POST…TAKE POST!

RETIRING AND RECEIVING STANDARD PARTIES ARE TO TAKE POST....TAKE POST!

Both Standard parties march to their pre-designated positions between Points 3 and 4 (The Cased Standard with Standard Party will take post to their pre-designated point(s) in the Hangar to uncase the 207(R) Sqn Standard) The Receiving Standard Party will take post 16-paces, left of the Dais facing onto the assembled Parade.

Retiring Standard Party now conduct the uncasing of 207(R) Sqn Standard.

Retiring Standard Bearer commands:

ESCORTS…SHUN!

INWARDS…TURN!

UNCASE THE STANDARD OF NUMBER 207(R) SQUADRON

PRESENT....ARMS!

Once the Standard has been uncased the Retiring Standard Bearer commands:

ESCORTS SLOPE….ARMS!

ESCORTS OUTWARDS….TURN!

ESCORTS SHOULDER….ARMS!

Retiring orderly marches-off to an area 5-paces to the right of Point 3. Retiring Standard Party is NOT to be stood at Ease, but escorts may change arms, however they must be brought back to into the Right Arm Pit, ready for the slope onto the left shoulder before the Parade Cdr commands “March-On the Standard”.

Squadron Formation. No 207(R) Squadron having Marched-On at the Slope Arms, bayonets fixed, in column of threes in 2 flights, formed in line of Flights on the receiving base (10 paces between flights) and the Standard have been uncased. The Parade Cdr Commands:

PARADE WILL FORM TWO RANKS….FORM TWO RANKS!

OPEN ORDER….MARCH!

DRESSING WITHOUT INTERVALS…..RIGHT…. DRESS!

EYES….FRONT!

OFFICERS ARE TO TAKE POST IN REVIEW ORDER….OUTWARDS TURN….QUICK MARCH!

OFFICERS…. RIGHT….TURN!

PARADE… SLOPE…. ARMS!

MARCH ON NUMBER 207 RESERVE SQUADRON STANDARD!

GENERAL SALUTE….PRESENT ARMS!

The Central Band of the Royal Air Force plays Points of War. The Retiring Standard Bearer gives the command:

ESCORTS SLOPE….ARMS!

STANDARD PARTY BY THE CENTRE….QUICK MARCH!

The colour party is to march across the front of the parade, and when it reaches the centre it is to wheel to the right, march to its position in the centre of the formation between Nos 1 and Flight. The Retiring Standard Bearer gives the following commands:

STANDARD PARTY RIGHT WHEEL

STANDARD PARTY…. HALT!

STANDARD PARTY….ABOUT….TURN!

The Retiring Standard Party Warrant Officer is to execute a Right Turn and step off and left wheel to a position 2 paces behind the bearer in 10 paces. The Retiring Standard Bearer is to take 3-paces forward to take up Parade position in line with the Flight Commanders.
The Escorts are then to Present Arms!

Once 207(R) Standard is in; the Parade Cdr is to give the commands:

PARADE SLOPE….ARMS!

SHOULDER…. ARMS!

PARADE STAND AT….EASE!

The Parade Cdr is now to about turn and face the Dais, ready to receive the RO.
The RO, AVM M G Lloyd arrives and enters 1-Hangar in company with the Stn Cdr

Parade Cdr orders:

PARADE….SHUN!

PARADE SLOPE….ARMS!

PARADE GENERAL SALUTE…..PRESENT….ARMS!

The Central Band of the Royal Air Force is to play a General Salute National Anthem. At the end of the Anthem the Parade Cdr Commands:

PARADE SLOPE….ARMS!

PARADE SHOULDER…. ARMS!

THE REVIEW

The Parade Cdr is then to report to the Reviewing Officer on the Dais. The Parade Cdr salutes with his sword and then invites the Reviewing Officer to inspect the Parade. “Sir, Number 207 Reserve Squadron from Royal Air Force Linton-on-Ouse, are formed up and await your inspection!”

As soon as AVM Lloyd and the Stn Cdr move off the Dais to conduct the inspection, the Flt Cdr No1 Flt (Armed) is to command:

NUMBER ONE ARMED FLIGHT REMAIN FAST.

PARADE…PARADE STAND AT…..EASE!

The Parade Cdr accompanies the Reviewing Officer, AVM Lloyd and Stn Cdr to inspect the Parade by Flt’s. Each Flt Cdr is to meet the RO at he arrives at the right flank of their respective Flts.

On completion of the inspection of No1 (Armed) Flt.

The Flt Cdr of No2 Flt (Un-Armed) is to command:

NUMBER TWO FLIGHT…..SHUN!

Immediately No2 Flt has been brought to the SHUN, the Flt Cdr of No1 Flt (Armed) is to command:

NUMBER ONE ARMED FLIGHT…STAND AT….EASE!

Notes:

1. The Central Band of the Royal Air Force is to play throughout the inspection.

3. Each Flt Cdr must state their Unit/Flt to the RO.

4. The RO must be invited by the Parade Cdr to inspect the Central band of The Royal Air Force before retiring to the Dais.

After the inspection the Parade Cdr is to request permission from the personage to carry on with the parade and is then to return to a position 12 paces in front of the left flank of No 1 Flight.

If AVM Lloyd, the RO wishes to address the Parade it would be at this point. The Parade would be “Stood at Ease” and brought to “Attention” after the address.

HANDING-OVER CEREMONY.

Parade Cdr commands:

PARADE….SLOPE…. ARMS!

STANDARD PARTY…. TAKE… POST!

The Retiring Standard party move to a designated point 15 paces in front of the Parade.

The Standard Bearer orders:

STANDARD PARTY BY THE CENTRE….QUICK…MARCH!

STANDARD PARTY….HALT!

The Receiving Standard Party is to move from their position between the Dais and Point B, to a position 5 paces in front of the retiring standard party.

The Receiving Standard Bearer orders:

RECEIVING STANDARD PARTY BY THE CENTRE….QUICK… MARCH!

RECEIVING STANDARD PARTY….HALT!

RECEIVING STANDARD PARTY PRESENT….ARMS!

RECEIVING STANDARD PARTY SLOPE….ARMS!

Parade Cdr orders:

PARADE….SHOULDER…. ARMS!

HANDOVER THE SQUADRON STANDARD!

The Receiving Standard Bearer will Return Sword’s and report Rank, Name and Station.

“FLIGHT LIEUTANANT RYDER, ROYAL AIR FORCE LINTON-ON-OUSE”.

Both Standard Bearers march 2-paces forward. The Retiring Standard Bearer brings 207(R) Squadron Standard to the Port, whereupon the receiving Standard Bearer is also to grasp the Squadron Standard and the Pike.

The Retiring Standard Bearer is then to say:

“I GIVE INTO YOUR SAFE KEEPING THE STANDARD OF NUMBER 207 RESERVE SQUADRON. I CHARGE YOU TO GUARD AND DEFEND IT”.

The Receiving Standard Bearer replies:

“I WILL DO SO”.

The Retiring Standard Bearer is to relinquish hold of 207(R) Squadron Standard and it is then to be brought to the Order by the Receiving Standard Bearer. Both standard bearers march 2-paces backwards.

The Retiring Standard Bearer Draws Sword’s then orders:

RETIRING STANDARD PARTY….SLOPE…ARMS!

RETIRING STANDARD PARTY ….PRESENT….ARMS!

RETIRING STANDARD PARTY….SLOPE…ARMS!

RETIRING STANDARD PARTY ABOUT TURN…LEFT WHEEL….QUICK MARCH!

The retiring standard party are to move to a position between the Dais and Point A.

Parade Cdr orders:

PARADE…SLOPE… ARMS!

MARCH OFF THE SQUADRON STANDARD

PARADE…PRESENT… ARMS!

When the Present Arms has been completed the Receiving Standard Bearer orders:

STANDARD PARTY BY THE CENTRE… LEFT WHEEL…. QUICK MARCH!

Between Points 1 and 2 the Receiving Standard Bearer orders:

STANDARD PARTY….HALT!

STANDARD PARTY…ABOUT…. TURN!

STANDARD PARTY BY THE CENTRE…. SLOW….MARCH!

After leaving the Parade Ground (1-Hangar) the Receiving Standard Party proceeds to a designated location to case the standard. The Cased Standard is then to be taken to the RAF Regt Flt.

When the Receiving Standard Party have Marched-Off between Points 3 and 4 the Parade Cdr orders:

PARADE….SLOPE… ARMS!

PARADE….SHOULDER…ARMS!

The Parade Cdr marches forward to the RO, salutes with his sword and requests:

“CEREMONIAL COMPLETED PERMISSION TO MARCH OFF SIR?”

March-Off. When permission is granted, the Parade Cdr salutes with his sword, about turns and marches back to his position, facing the Parade and orders:

OFFICERS TAKE POST….RIGHT…TURN!

QUICK… MARCH!

OFFICERS INWARDS….TURN!

PARADE CLOSE ORDER…. MARCH!

FALL IN THE MARKERS…QUICK…MARCH!

PARADE WILL FORM THREE RANKS….FORM THREE…RANKS!

DRESSINGS….RIGHT… DRESS!

EYES…FRONT!

FALL IN THE RETIRING STANDARD PARTY!

Retiring Standard Bearer orders:

RETIRING STANDARD PARTY BY THE CENTRE…RIGHT WHEEL QUICK…MARCH!

When the Retiring Standard Party have joined the Parade the Parade Cdr orders:

PARADE….SLOPE…ARMS!

MOVE TO THE RIGHT IN COLUMN OF ROUTE….RIGHT… TURN!

The Parade Cdr then takes post at the head of the Parade. On the beat of a drum all Executives and Supernumerary Officers and guests stand and face the direction of the march. The Central Band of the Royal Air Force will lead the March-Past, 16-paces in front of the Parade Cdr.

Parade Cdr Orders:

PARADE BY THE LEFT… QUICK… MARCH!

The Parade, wheels around Point 1 and again at Point 2, to bring the Parade onto the March-Past Line.

Parade Cdr Orders:

“BY THE RIGHT”

When the Parade Cdr is level with the first Marker (Point A) No 1 (Armed) Ft Cdr orders the Eyes Right for No 1 Flight.

No 1 Flt Cdr Orders:

NUMBER 1 FLT..BY THE RIGHT...EYES…RIGHT!

When No 2 Flight Commander is abreast of Point A he gives the order for No 2 Flight.

No 2 Flt Cdr Orders:

NUMBER 2 FLT..BY THE RIGHT...EYES…RIGHT!

The Eyes Front is to be called by the Flight Cdrs when the last person of their respective Flights is abreast of Point B (36-paces).

No 1 Flt Cdr Orders:

NUMBER 1 FLT....EYES…FRONT!

When No 2 Flight Commander is abreast of Point A he gives the order for No 2 Flight.

No 2 Flt Cdr Orders:

NUMBER 2 FLT…BY THE RIGHT...EYES…FRONT!

The Parade will continue to left wheel at Point 3 and 4 and march-off through the Hangar Doors, where it will halt. The Central Band of the Royal Air Force is to Fall-Out. The Parade Cdr will hand the parade over to the Parade Marshal. Standard will be received into the Mess. No 2 Flt (Unarmed) will be dismissed and No 1 Flt will march off to the Armoury. Officers will fall out at the RAF Regt Flt.
